2011 Cooper River Bridge Run

The 2011 Cooper River Bridge Run is here. The 6am wake up call is absolutely worth it for this Charleston event. The Bridge Run brings in over 40,000 people from all over the world, making Charleston the coolest running city in America at least one day out of the calendar year. And let's not forget about the cyclists! A new ride has been introduced by Charleston Bicycle Company, known as After the Bridge Run Ride, taking place on April 3, 2011.

The Ravenel Bridge, stores, restaurants, sidewalks and Porta John's will be packed with eager participants and excited onlookers. A truly great day to be a Charlestonian. Word to those who will not be participating... the beaches will most likely be clear, so head out to put those toes in the sand!

Visit the Cooper River Bridge Run store and you can view and purchase this year's contest winners t-shirt and poster, as well as apparel and merchandise (designed by yours truly!), and let's not forget the classic vintage items. I will be riding Gloria (my buzz-mobile bike), if permitted, to take photographs of the nervous runners and hopefully catch a few of my shirts running the race as well.

For those not familiar with the Ravenel Bridge, it is a point of Charleston pride. This photo was taken during an art show, The Collective, at the Tides Condominiums.
