Various Benefits of Yoga

I came across this great article and couldn't help but share. For all the yogi's and non-yogi's I feel it's important to understand the great benefits of the movements, motions, and meditations practiced. I'll be the first to admit that in my new and busy city-life, I have pushed yoga off to the side a bit. But just reading how great it is for mind-body connection... it's quite inspiring to hop back onto the mat!

1. Yoga increases flexibility, helping common ailments, such as typical aches and pains.
2. Stimulates blood pressure control, regulating blood pressure, heart trate, body temperature, respiratory function, high stress level, and metabolic rate.
3. Toning muscles and ridding of excess fat.
4. Lowers oxygen consumption which leads to relaxation and easier sleep.
5. Meditation keeps the heart healthy as well by increasing blood flow creating less work for your heart. Meditation also helps to build endurance, resolve phobias, and reduce the activity of emotional distress.
Any of this sound too difficult? Read the entire article here. Namaste!

Flapper Doodle Art

Love these stylistic drawings, caught my eye during the weekend surfing. Find these wonderful drawings at the Flapper Doodle Site. The artist has a blog with fantastic fashion and beauty tips, whimsical photos, and more. And let's not forget the Flapper Doodle-specific blog, where the artsist shows off her brilliant talents on multiple mediums (my favorite are the calendars).

Definitely
worth checking out.

Hearty Chicken Noodle Soup

Ingredients:

- 1 rotisserie chicken,
- 2 packages 32 oz. of Organic Chicken Broth, Low Sodium
- 2 large carrots
- 1 celery stalk
- 1/4 white onion
- 1 package of Organic Egg Noodles
- Fresh dill
- Pepper to taste

(Both the chicken and the organic products/produce can be found at whole foods and, to note, you will definitely get more than one meal out of the chicken!)

Dice your carrots, celery, and onion. Set aside. Place the Organic Egg Noodles in boiling water until soft, directions should be with the packaging. While noodles are cooking, throw in the veggies to begin their cooking process. Throw in some fresh dill and as much pepper as you like (but not too much!). Untie the rotisserie chicken and begin to either cut or pick apart the meat, giving you bite-size chicken chunks perfect for soup.

When the noodles are soft, drain and set back on heat. Pour in the Organic Chicken Broth Low Sodium in immediately and let the soup simmer. Now it's up to you! The longer the soup simmers, I think the better it tastes. But if you're hungry now, make sure the veggies are soft and the aroma is right.

Bon appétit.
